Buenos Aires, January 10. A 26-year-old repeat offender with 17 prior criminal attempts tried to rob a watch from an Italian tourist and was arrested in the Monserrat neighborhood of the capital. According to the official report accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the arrest was made by the Buenos Aires City Police after the suspect, who was on a motorcycle, tried to seize a Rolex watch from the victim but failed and fled. The incident occurred at the intersection of Balcarce and Alsina streets and triggered an alert to officers from the Motorized Department along with agents from the 1D Neighborhood Police Station, who began a search and found the perpetrator on Avenida Belgrano and Paseo Colón. Subsequently, officers confirmed he had an extensive criminal record with nine prior convictions in the City of Buenos Aires, linked to robberies, attempted robberies, and muggings, committed between 2017 and 2024, many of them under the 'motochorro' modality and in flagrante delicto. Likewise, the young man has six judicial records in the SIFCOP system, including pretrial detentions, probation suspensions, and firm convictions for theft crimes, issued between 2019 and 2024 by various national courts and tribunals.
